Ski Orienteering Weekend - Weather Update 17/07 7.20am
The event will go ahead today. The snow farm reports rain last night followed by 5cm of snow. This means they have been unable to groom the trails so conditions will be challenging. It could be a day to try out those classic skis! Nevertheless, we have planned 3 fun courses which I am sure you will enjoy - it might just be even more of an adventure! So hopefully we see many of you up there today. We will stick to the delayed times.
Registration: from 11.30am (this will happen from the Waiorau Nordic Sports Club Lunchroom which is out on the snow to the left as you exit the main doors).
Starts: 12.30pm - 2.00pm
Course closure: 3.30pm
Please remember to prebook your trail passes and ski gear from Snow Farm before you come up tomorrow to get the 50% discount (use the discount code SKIO).
Any queries or wonderings feel free to give me a call or text (Emily - 0221599820, Chris 0221599826).
At this stage Sunday's event will run as scheduled but we will update you with any changes tomorrow night.
IMPORTANT: We will post a further update about the status of tomorrow's event on here and facebook at 7.30am tomorrow morning.
Sat and Sun 17/18 July
Also, please make sure you pre-purchase your trail pass and gear hire through the Snow Farm website. Use the discount code (provided on the entry form) to receive a 50% discount!
This will be a very fun weekend of ski orienteering and racing (very low key racing mind you!)
Suitable for all ages and abilities, we will have a range of courses to cater for both novices and experts, so don't worry if you have never been on XC skis before. This will be a perfect opportunity for families to come along, being the middle weekend of the school holidays. Also acts as the (unofficial) New Zealand Ski Orienteering Champs, so an opportunity for some glory for those that are keen !

Check out Highland Event's Website for more info. It's a very fun event where you can snowshoe, cross country ski or ski tour out into the greater backcountry of the Pisas.
